Stop Three

We were only booked into the hotel for 4 nights, so we decided to stay at a B&B for the rest of the week. (we ended up only staying 2 more nights). Here are some of the gnomes antics at Eve's. . .

Enjoying the mirrored dining room:

After seeing so many super tall buildings and full sized people, the gnome was happy to find a whole group of creatures his own size to make friends with . . .

Resting his feet after a long day of walking the city streets . . .

Warming up by the fire place . . .

Having a drink at the bar . . .

Checking out the neighbourhood . . .

Rockefeller Center - Round Two

The view at the Top of the Rock is amazing, especially from the second level of the observatory (which isn't surrounded by glass and has places that you can set a camera, making it much easier to get a decent photo)

Empire State Building

This building is really big ;)

21 Club

It was Restaurant Week in New York while we were there, so we could actually afford to eat at a fancy restaurant. It was excellent. We didn't see anyone famous there, but apparently it is the place to see and be seen (or something like that. . .)

The Night Continues

One of the many amazing churches in the city . . . (St. Patrick's I believe)

The gnome couldn't seem to hail a taxi on his own so he thought he'd try to hitch a ride with this guy.

The Chrysler Building (we may have thought this was the empire state building at the time this photo was taken, but figured out that it was indeed the Chrysler Building).

The Crown Building . . . I think . . .

Rockefeller Center - Round One

We found the ice rink . . . which it turns out is remarkably smaller than I imagined it to be . . .

The Top Of the Rock (from the bottom) . . .stay tuned for photos from the top :)

On of the many statues around the center

Times Square

Times Square wasn't the highlight of the trip for me. It seems like it was just a street full of advertisements. There was a band playing out on the street trying to sell cds, it was kind of interesting.

My mom couldn't resist taking a photo of Caroline on Broadway in front of Caroline's on Broadway

Radio City Music Hall isn't in Times Square, but I didn't want to put a separate post ;)
The buildings in the city are great.

Grand Central

Ok, so a train station doesn't sound like that exciting of a place to visit on holiday, but this one is definitely worth the stop. It is a magnificent building and was bustling with lots of people going every which way. There are also lots of shops for those that are inclined to shop.

Our Second Stop

Here are some gnome photos from our second hotel (first place in New York City). It was quite nice and remarkably large for a New York Hotel. However, they didn't include free internet . . .what kind of hotel doesn't include free internet these days. . .

Checking out the bathroom . . .

Thinking about cooking some dinner. . . if it was only possible to buy groceries in New York city . . .

Checking out the kitchen sink . . .

The Journey Begins

My mom and I are going for a trip to New York City for a week. It seems that a little gnome stowed away in the car and has decided to tag along for the trip. He seems to like to have his photo taken, so I will probably have some posts of his (and our) journey this week.

Getting ready to go . . . (I guess I should have known that he thought he was going to come with us).

They tell me that gnomes hate cats but this one seems to get along well with Jack and Saru, although they are pretty special kitties :).

Making himself at home at our first stop along the way. . . East Syracuse . . .

Checking out the shower . . .

Oh, and did I mention, seems there is a hugh snow storm hitting New York state . . . Hopefully it will clear up a bit tomorrow for the rest of the drive into the city.

Hiding Kitty

I haven't posted a picture of Saru in a while . . .

The carpet removal saga . .

So I finally got around to removing the remainder of the carpet from the stairs and upstairs hallway (with the help of George and Carolyn :) ). After removing the carpet we decided that the linoleum should come out too. After much hard work, we were just left with one small 12x16 piece of flooring and sub flooring to remove. Feeling pretty good about almost being done we happily removed the last piece, only to discover . . .

After much collaboration and information gathering, and a trip to home depot, George and I managed to fix it though :)
